I Am Exactly Where I Need to Be

There are days when I look at my journal pages and see nothing but mess. Layers that don’t quite work together. Colors that feel off. A page that doesn’t have a clear direction, and may never.

And yet, those pages are honest. They are a witness to the moment I was in when I made them — messy, uncertain, but true.

That’s what this Soul Truth reminds me: I am exactly where I need to be.

We spend so much energy believing we should be further along — in our art, in our stories, in our lives. We compare ourselves to polished pieces, to curated feeds, to people who seem to always be one step ahead. But the truth is, we can’t skip to the next page. We can only be on the one we’re on.

And sometimes that page is unfinished. Sometimes it’s awkward. Sometimes it’s layered with things we wish weren’t there. But every page belongs. Every page carries wisdom.

That’s what I love about art as a companion to soulwork: it shows us in living color what it means to be present to our unfolding. The half-finished spread, the brushstroke that bled, the collage that didn’t stick quite right — they are reminders that here is sacred, too.

This Soul Truth is not about settling. It’s about honoring the wisdom of this exact season — whether it feels like Shadow, Glimmers, Transition, Emergence, or Light. It’s about trusting that even if we don’t see the full picture yet, the page is teaching us.

So today, I am choosing to believe it: I am not late. I am not lost. I am not behind.
I am exactly where I need to be.

reflection Prompt

Take out your journal and create a page that reflects right now. Don’t aim for beauty. Don’t aim for completion. Just let the marks and scraps and colors witness your current moment. When you finish, whisper this Soul Truth over the page: I am exactly where I need to be.

Soul Truth No. 7

I am exactly where I need to be.

This truth lives in the quiet release of “should”—
in the moment you stop striving toward elsewhere
and recognize the sacredness of here.

It is:
The pause that lets you breathe again.
The inner yes that softens your grip on the map.
The grounded knowing that nothing is missing.

It reminds us:
You are not behind.
You are not off track.
Even this moment belongs.

This is just one of the Soul Truths that guide The Soulful Journey. There are twelve in all — gentle reminders to steady you wherever you find yourself. If you’d like to meet them, you can find them here:
